Wooden blinds come in a vast array of styles and cross the distinctive types discussed throughout this site such as; Wooden Venetian blinds, Wooden Roman blinds, Wooden Roller blinds and Wooden Vertical blinds. All of these wooden blinds can bring a certain ambiance and charm to your home, and clearly demonstrate the vast array of available options when you are seeking new window treatments.

Wood blinds in general terms can give the feel of bringing nature back into the home whilst still retaining the benefits of more traditional blinds, but it is clearly important to fully evaluate the blind materials to ensure that they compliment your décor and window requirements and as a possible alternative to wooden shutters, they are comfortable and inviting.

The obvious natural feel and look of wood blinds will add character to almost any room setting and will fit seamlessly into both contemporary and traditional room styles.

These blinds can be most effective in managing the light diffused into the home, whist maintaining a high level of privacy.

However, it is important to evaluate both the advantages and disadvantages of wood blinds to determine if it is a right fit for you home.

Advantages of Wooden Blinds

  • Wooden blinds can withstand temperature extremes and sunlight well
  • Natural stains may be applied to not only emphasis the natural grains but maintain a perfect look
  • Versatility in terms of wood selection and slat sizes
  • Maintain high levels of privacy
  • Wood blinds bring both ambience and charm to the room
  • Wooden blinds tend to be of high quality
  • Cleaning tends to be relatively easier as the slats are more substantial than other materials
  • If cared for, and installed correctly, will tend to last

Disadvantages of Wooden Blinds

  • Cost - Wooden blinds are traditionally more expensive than other types of blinds.
  • Wood blinds may be heavy, making the wooden blinds more difficult to install or operate.
  • Albeit possibly easier to clean, wood blinds may need cleaning more often than other blinds as they tend to attract dust
  • You will also need to treat the wooden blinds occasionally with protective products, such as wood oil.
  • Wood naturally releases and absorbs water so be wary of installing in poor ventilation / high humidity areas such as bathrooms or kitchens – they may have a tendency to warp.

Although they may be pricier than other types of blinds, wood blinds offer their own set of advantages and beauty any room with warmth and richness.
